Definition:  FRIEND (frend) n.  1.  One attached to another by affection.  2.  An ally in a cause.  3.  One who believes in or supports a group or institution.  4.  One who has joined the Flat Rock Public Library and is an active advocate for the library.  5.  One who plans and attends special events and enrichment programs held at their local library.

Friends are:

• Caring people just like you, working to improve the quality of life in our community, for ourselves and our children.
• Concerned citizens who believe books, reading and public libraries to be a basic human need, providing vitally important to every citizen's life.
• Dedicated volunteers helping our Library provide those services which make a difference in our lives and have a future impact.

Friends of the Library is a nationwide group of volunteer library supporters.  A local group is usually incorporated as a non-profit organization.  These local groups then set their own dues and determine their own priorities and projects, based on local needs.  

 Friends of the Library to help us maintain our status as the "favorite Downriver Library".
